Founder's Biography

Matt Schoenfeld’s purpose for founding the Abundant Living ministry is clear. He wants to train people to think God’s way about money and possessions, so they will be a blessing to their family and others.

After receiving his bachelor’s degree in religion and communications from Baylor University, Matt began his career at American Century Investments where he educated individuals and corporate clients on investing basics, college savings, retirement planning, and business investments. While at ACI, Matt earned his Series 6 and 63 securities licenses, holding the designation of Registered Representative. In addition to his duties at one of the nation’s leading mutual fund companies, Matt also worked part-time at several churches and earned his master’s degree in business.

Following God’s call to full-time ministry, Matt moved from the investing world and began a seven-year career as a church administrator, serving several large congregations in Kansas City. Matt has more than 20 years of ministry experience including youth and campus ministry, small group leadership, church administration, para-church ministry leadership, non-profit executive management and accounting. He has been involved in Christian financial coaching since 1996.

Matt is the author of Managing Your Money; Living Debt Free; Learning to Invest; Abundant Living: The Five Biblical Principles for Financial Success; the Abundant Living Stewardship Series; and Hidden Treasures: The Secrets to Abundant Living. He enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, following University of Kansas Jayhawk basketball as well as the Green Bay Packers, reading, and is a lifetime fan of Christian Music. Matt lives in Kansas City with his wife and two children.
